ANNOUNCEMENT FOR REFEREES PARTICIPATING IN KSI WC-2025 TOURNAMENT

GENERAL INFORMATION

• In the KSI WC-2025 competition, we will not use flag judging. Judges should be prepared to officiate matches “in the traditional spirit of Soke Kimura.”
• The competition rules are based on the “Shukokai Competition Rules 2019”, WITH THE

FOLLOWING ADDITIONS:

  • A contact warning and a mubobi warning cannot be given for the same action (only one of them can be issued).
  • If the opponent correctly avoids a technically well-executed ashi-barai sweep, the attacker is not necessarily required to perform a striking technique, and failure to strike will not result in a penalty.
  • Age categories in all divisions are determined by the birth year (not the exact birth date).
  • The list of approved kata for the “KSI WC-2025 Finland” competition is attached (the list of approved competition kata can also be found on the official competition website).
  • For the Kata competition, different katas must be performed in the first two rounds. The exception to this rule is the semi-final and final matches.
  • Participants in the Adults Team Kata competition must have reached the age of 16 by the first competition day of the World Championships.
  • Participants in the Adults Team Kumite competition must have reached the age of 18 by the first competition day of the World Championships.

Reminders

Standard referee equipment, as well as:

  • A whistle and separate tatami footwear
  • In Kumite, mouthguards are mandatory for all competitors, as well as groin protectors for male competitors.
  • The importance of bronze medal matches should be acknowledged (e.g., competitors’ bows should be performed as in the finals).
